Final Report on the Soltherm-Thailand Project Released

The final Report of the Market Development Solar Thermal Applications in Thailand Project (Soltherm-Thailand) published in June 2007, is available to download online now. This report provides extensive information on past studies and demonstration as well as numerous field trips of twenty (20) commercial and industrial facilities in seven (7) larges provinces undertaken throughout the country including a summary from additional 6 meetings/workshops organized to solicit more information and verify usefulness of the findings (click read more to download page)

Presentation on Solar Thermal Market in Thailand Available for Download.

Presentation on the Solar Thermal Market in Thailand which is a summary of the project results was made during the Renewable Energy: Technology, Markets and Policies in Southeast Asia Conference, on June 6, 2007, at BITEC, Bangkok. This presentation is to highlight the significant potential applications and energy demand in 3 sectors: Residential; Commercial and; Industry. It presents the solar thermal repowering market potential and summarizes some of lessons learnt and implementation on SHW market and policy from different countries. This includes an overview of Thai market situation, growth scenarios and the barriers of SHW market. Key success factors and measures to remove barriers are also identified.

Solar Water Heater for Energy Saving WorkshopThe Soltherm-Thailand Project hosted two workshops titled, "Solar Water Heater for Energy Saving in Hotel/Hospital/Industry", on Wednesday March 14, at the Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa, Pattaya and on Friday March 16, at the Siam City Hotel, Bangkok.  The workshops were organized as an information dissemination events for the findings and analysis of Thailand' solar thermal market barriers and potential in the commercial and industrial sectors including exibition booths from suppliers and producers of solar thermal equipment and systems.  In the workshops, participants shared their experiences and findings with policymakers and the Solar Thermal stakeholders as well as raised a number of issues about solar thermal policies and practice.  The project team also identified possible actions which could enhance practice.

Phuket Site Visit, 12-14 February 2007

solar water heater at Patong MerlinAs a part of the project activities in Market Survey and Site Visit, the project team has visited hotels, hospitals and factories to inspect the existing solar water heater system all over the country e.g. Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Nakorn Pathom, Nakorn Ratchasrima, Saraburi and Bangkok. The main purpose of Phuket trip during 12-14 February is to evaluate the solar hot water market in the tourism industry of Phuket city.

The Roundtable Meeting on Soltherm-Thailand project was held in Dec 14, 2006, at the Novotel Lotus Hotel, Bangkok. The purpose of the Stakeholder Roundtable was to provide an update of activities taken by the Project Team and the collaborative effort needed among stakeholders as well as offered an opportunity for key stakeholders to provide feedback and discuss solutions.
